About Nucleus Ambiguus
Nucleus Ambiguus is a science blog for scientists. It is accompanied by a sister blog, Nucleus Ambiguous, which is meant for a more general audience. The distinction is not merely typographical. Besides being the coolest sounding neuroanatomical structure in the brain, the nucleus ambiguus is important in regulating heart rate (a topic of my current research). It is also just dorsal to the pre-Bötzinger complex, and area that is crucial to breathing in mammals, and which was the locus of my dissertation research.
